No. Most thickeners add a strong chemical tast to fluids. QuikThik does not add any offensive flavour to what it is mixed with.
This depends on how thick you require fluids to be. The more QuikThik you add, the thicker fluids will become. Speech pathologists and medical practitioners refer to a scale of thickness. As a basic guide a thickness scale and the amount of QuikThik required is outlined below.

QuikThik can be tolerated by Coeliacs. The source of the maltodextrin used in all Dr. Macleod's products including QuikThik is corn. Coeliacs can not tolerate products derived from wheat, rye, barley or oats. However, corn is acceptable.
